The Taste of Jefferson County, United Way of Jefferson County’s premier fundraiser, returned on Wednesday after a two-year absence due to the pandemic with a fitting theme from “Welcome to the taste of the county.” It took place at the St. Florian Event Center in Wintersville, where a strong turnout of supporters took advantage of an evening to sample offerings from area restaurants, caterers, bakeries and food trucks and had the opportunity to participate in a number of special designs that ran the gamut from gifts from trees and Chinese auction items to three jewels donated by Chip and Chris Warren of Discovery Jewelers. Those winners were Priscilla Cionni, Ellen Barner and MarySue Gallabrese. The end of the evening was marked by the announcement of the winners elected by the patrons for the best starter, the best dessert and the best stand. The fundraiser generated funds that support 13 United Way member agencies.
