This week’s Midweek Magic is Alchemy Artisan! It’s a format where Rares and Mythics aren’t allowed, which makes for interesting deck building and (fun fact) is my favorite format on Arena!
Players can participate in the event for free, earn free Individual Rare Card (ICR) rewards and a random cosmetic item on the third win. Below is everything you need to know about the event as well as the list of decks you can use for this event.
Welcome to Midweek Magic! Each week, try a different way to play MTG Arena!
Bring a 60-card Alchemy deck, but using only common, uncommon, and basic lands. Without rare, the common people can really be heard!

Alchemy Artisan Decklists (May 2022)
We have 20 new Alchemy Artisan decks that feature some of the most powerful common and uncommon cards to choose from!
You can also check out our standard Artisan deck section for more inspiration (though they’re a bit dated since the last time we had the event was November 2021 after Innistrad: Crimson Vow).
Mono White Aggro – Artisan Alchemy
If you’re not sure which direction to take, Monowhite is still a great option. With a brutal curve, you can easily get under any opponent.
Mono Black Zombies – Artisan Alchemy
Between good curve, good suppression, and creature synergies, Mono Black Zombies is a great deck in Artisan.
Mid-Range Black Mono – Alchemy Artisan
If Artisan is one of my favorite formats, Monoblack Midrange is one of my favorite decks in the format! Slowly crush the opponent with drain enchantments and card advantage.
Mono Red Burn – Artisan Alchemy
Burn is one of my favorite archetypes in all of Magic because you have great creatures, great interaction, and great range in a neat package!
Mono Red Bombardment – Alchemy Artisan
If you want the power of Mono Red, but with added synergies, Mono Red Bombardment may be the perfect fit for you.
Mono Green Stompy – Artisan Alchemy
Seeking to bend as fast as possible, Mono Green Aggro has cheap and powerful creatures to kill the opponent as soon as possible.
Azorius Midrange – Alchemy Crafter
Do you like drawing maps? Of course you do! With Azorius, each creature will draw you a card so you always have something to cast!
Boros Artifact Aggro – Alchemy Artisan
Speaking of synergistic aggro decks, Boros Artifact Aggro is fast, punishing, and very strong between Patchwork Automaton and Ingenious Smith taking on ridiculous proportions.
Boros Warriors – Alchemy Crafter
Using the recently improved Warrior cards, Boros Warriors was already a solid option that is now even better!
Dimir Control – Alchemy Crafter
Don’t worry Control Mages, there’s a deck for you. With all the interactions and the unstoppable win condition of Narfi, Betrayer King, you have a powerful interactive deck.
Dimir Ninjas – Alchemy Crafter
Now, for my tempo-oriented players, Dimir Ninjas is a fun take on the archetype because you can make a lot of decisions by playing a bunch of pretty cards!
Gruul Aggro – Alchemy Crafter
Between the individually powerful cards and the synergies achieved through modding, Gruul Aggro seems like a very solid option against any deck.
Izzet Tempo – Alchemy Crafter
Perhaps the strongest deck for this event, Izzet Tempo is pure efficiency and grants access to the improved Symmetry Sage that tore Historic apart not too long ago!
Orzhov’s Sacrifice – Alchemy Crafter
Between a bunch of valuable creatures and sacrifice synergies, Orzhov Sacrifice is amazing at refueling his hand, interacting with the opponent, and grinding them down.
Anvil of Rakdos – Alchemy Artisan
Rakdos Anvil is one of the most powerful decks in Standard and Alchemy, but even in Artisan you can keep the main components that make it so powerful!
Rakdos Sacrifice – Alchemy Crafter
If you want a different flavor of Rakdos, Rakdos Sacrifice is the more classic version filled to the brim with valuable creatures and great synergies.
Selesnya Enchantments – Alchemy Artisan
Somewhat similar to Rakdos Anvil, Selesnya Enchantments keeps most of its power cards in Artisan, easily making it one of the best decks in the format.
Selesnya Life Gain – Alchemy Artisan
A Historic Artisan favorite, Selesnya Lifegain is powerful and excellent against the litany of creature decks you’re likely to find in the event.
Selesnya Magecraft – Alchemy Craftsman
One of my favorite standard strategies, Selesnya Magecraft is a fast and hard to interact aggro deck that’s both powerful and fun to play!
Simic Ramp – Artisan Alchemy
For the article’s final list, Simic Ramp has great ramping options in Alchemy, and then you’re rewarded by playing the extremely versatile channel creatures at the top!
