The Bradley Braves held on for a 77-73 victory over the Saint Joseph Hawks in a men’s college basketball game on Saturday at Carver Arena in Peoria.

Bradley’s Connor Hickman split two free throws, then stole the ball with 4 seconds left to secure a win for BU (5-6), who have now won four of their last five.

Ja’Shon Henry scored 18 to lead five Bradley players in the double-digit score. Malevy Leons added 14, Terry Roberts 13, Jayson Kent 11 and Hickman 10.

Taylor Funk scored 22 to lead St. Joe’s (6-5).

The Braves started hot and built a five-point lead early on, then fell five points to an 11-3 run at St. Joe’s late in the half.

But BU took a 39-28 halftime lead on a layup by goaltender Terry Roberts, then a jumper by Roberts in the final 45 seconds.

4:09 p.m .: Bradley defeats St. Joe’s, 77-73

Connor Hickman splits two free throws, then steals the ball with 4 seconds left to claim a win for BU. The Braves go 5-6.

4:05 p.m .: Flagrant foul

BU gets a save, and Ja’Shon Henry heads the other way, goes up for a seal dunk attempt with 9.9 seconds left and gets tomahawked from behind by Jordan Hall. Officials review play, call a flagrant foul.

Jayson Kent pulls on technique, does both. It’s 76-73 Bradley.

Bradley can’t convert, and St. Joe’s have the ball with 28.6 seconds left, BU hanging on to a 74-73 lead.

3:58 p.m .: Over time

Bradley held a 74-71 lead with 2:07 left and the ball coming out of the timeout. Ari Boya missed the edge moments earlier, but St. Joe’s missed a rider who followed.

3:51 p.m .: This is St. Joe’s

Ejike at the rim shoots St. Joe to 72-68 with 3:41 remaining. This is an 18-10 run from St. Joe’s at 4:44 that started with a 3 by Taylor Funk.

Bradley leads 72-68 with 3:34 remaining.

3:44 p.m.: Hickman hits a 3

Bradley in a 16-8 run in 7:55, takes a 62-50 lead over a Connor Hickman 3 with 8:53 to go. Ja’Shon Henry has 16, Hickman has 9, Roberts has 11. Rienk Mast has 10 rebounds.

Taylor Funk with 17 points for St. Joe’s.

3:37 p.m .: Bradley 59, St. Joe’s 50 with 9:19 a.m. left in the second half.

3:29 p.m.: Hot Bradley on the free throw line

The Braves win the whistle. St. Joe’s was called for 19 fouls against 9. The Braves hit 13 of 14 at the free throw line. It’s 55-45 Bradley 12:32 left.

3:21 p.m.: Bradley rolls 11 points ahead

Jayson Kent on the bench hits a 3 from the left wing for a 53-42 BU lead over St. Joe’s with 14:13 remaining. The biggest lead of the match for either team.

3:13 p.m .: Second half in progress

Bradley was leading 46-42 with 16:48 left in the second half. Terry Roberts touched another jumper.

Bradley goalkeeper Terry Roberts rallied them to a halftime lead with a layup and jumper in the final 45 seconds. Roberts has nine points at halftime, while Rienk Mast has seven points and seven rebounds.

2:43 p.m .: St. Joe’s on the run

A runner in Dahmir Bishop’s lane, a layup from Cameron Brown and a rider from Taylor Funk pushed St. Joe’s to a 34-29 lead over Bradley with 3:20 left in the first half. The Hawks are 11-3 on the final 4:13.

Bradley’s Ja’Shon Henry and Rienk Mast with a total of 15 points and the Braves up to 16-10 in point in the paint. It is 26-21 BU and a time out with 6:34 left in the first half.

Bradley 18, St. Joe’s 11 with 10:14 left in the first half.

2:24 p.m .: Marked drought ends with a dunk

Bradley missed six shots in a row, including three layups, while St. Joe’s missed four in a row in about four minutes.

BU senior Ja’Shon Henry ended it with a dunk for a 16-11 lead as the teams hit the 12-minute media time-out.

2:14 p.m.: Leons leads Bradley early

BU forward Malevy Leons, who works inside, has five points in the opening 4:59 to help Bradley take a 14-10 lead over St. Joe’s.

13:50: Bradley changes the starting lineup

Bradley first-year guard Connor Hickman joins the starting lineup against St. Joe’s.

Hickman will join guard Terry Roberts and forwards Malevy Leons, Rienk Mast and Ja’Shon Henry.
