SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) — Friday is the eve of a historic moment in the host city. The Savannah Ghost Pirates will play their first-ever home game on Saturday at the Enmarket Arena.

It was a highly anticipated game and it’s nearly sold out. The arena general manager said there were only a handful of tickets left.

If you plan on coming to the game, he recommends parking downtown and taking the free trolley to the arena which parks in front of the Savannah Civic Center.

He says they currently have about 2,000 parking spaces near the arena, but many of them are either owned by season ticket holders or have already been sold. You must prepay parking at the arena.

“The best opportunity would be to park downtown and take the tram. There is very limited availability that will be here. The best opportunity for people, if you go online and didn’t see it available to you, park downtown, take the tram, have a good time, enjoy the scenic drive,” said said Monty Jones Jr., general manager of Enmarket Arena.

When all of the construction is complete, Jones says the arena will have a capacity of around 3,000.

Whichever way you get to the game, organizers say you’ll be witnessing an important moment in Savannah’s history.

“It’s fantastic. If you look closely, it’s the first professional hockey franchise here in Savannah. And the team is undefeated right now. With them going home undefeated and then getting their first home win. I’m putting a lot of pressure on them, hey they gotta get that first home win. The crowd is gonna be a great vibe, it’s gonna be a great time. For those who haven’t seen live hockey, come and enjoy it. C is fantastic live,” Jones said.

Doors open Saturday at 5 p.m.
