Police were called to Scotia Barn (formerly Burnaby 8-rinks) in the Sprott Street and Norland Avenue area at approximately 4:30 p.m.

A 33-year-old man was found suffering from a gunshot wound. Burnaby RCMP said the victim, whose name has not been released, is being treated for a non-life threatening injury.

There were no arrests.

Witnesses told police the gunman fled in a dark-colored SUV.

“It is disturbing to see such a blatant disregard for public safety,” said the Burnaby RCMP Corporal. Mike Kalanj. “At this time, investigators do not believe this incident is related to the gang conflict in the Lower Mainland. Our agents work diligently to identify and locate the persons or person responsible. “

Anyone with information or dashcam video of the area at the time of the shooting is asked to contact Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999.
