TOPEKA, Kansas (WIBW) – K-State Athletics recognizes Ward and Brenda Morgan of Manhattan, Kansas for their major philanthropic donation to support a new K-State volleyball arena.

They said the new Morgan Family Arena will open in early 2022. It is expected to open in time for the 2023 season.

The arena will have a capacity of approximately 3,100 seats, two training grounds with retractable seats, two video boards, team meeting rooms, a locker room, a team theater and offices for coaches. .

“This new facility is going to be world class, we are delighted that the team now has a dedicated home and we are grateful for the opportunity to help,” said Ward and Brenda.

Head coach Suzie Fritz said it’s been a long time and they love Ahearn Field House, but it’s time to move on.

“This facility will impact almost all of our Olympic student-athletes and clearly increase the opportunities for our student-athletes and fans. We cannot thank our donors, fans, administrative and development staff enough for their continued investment and support in K-State volleyball, ”she said.

Athletic Director Gene Taylor said, “The Morgans have taken a giant step forward in making this volleyball arena project a reality, and the impact their donation will have on our student-athletes, coaches and players. our fans is immeasurable. This new arena will help provide our program with a national recruiting advantage and create an exciting on-court advantage for our student-athletes and fans. We cannot thank Ward, Brenda and the entire Morgan family enough for their commitment to making K-State Volleyball one of the elite programs in the country.
