While we are sad to see a number of Tokyo’s major attractions close this year, there are still many promising new spaces that we are looking forward to. Real estate developer Mitsui Fudosan and social networking site mixi have teamed up to open a brand new multi-purpose arena in the Tokyo Bay area. Tentatively known as Lala Arena Tokyo-Bay, the new entertainment complex will be used for concerts and major sporting events and is expected to open in spring 2024. Measuring a sprawling 31,000 m², the space will accommodate about 10,000 people.

The arena will also become the new home of Chiba Jets Funabashi the basketball team, which is currently stationed further inland at Funabashi Arena.

Lala Arena Tokyo Bay will be a six-minute walk from Minami-Funabashi Station. Best of all, it’ll be right next to Mitsui Shopping Park Lalaport Tokyo Bay, so you can stop for a meal or a shopping spree on your way to the new arena.
