NOVI, MI – There’s a new entertainment complex in town, and that place has been around for a year and $10 million. The Hub Stadium is now open at 44325 West 12 Mile Road in Novi at Fountain Walk. It is located in the huge space that was once Lucky Strike.
Dining choices and activities abound at Hub Stadium, which features ax throwing, soccer bowling and a rare curling arena. Soon, a large space with a music room and a patio.
“I feel like especially post-pandemic, we wanted to create a space where not only can you get great food and cocktails, but you can be active,” said Maria Hayden, Regional Manager Hub Stadium sales to MLive.
Hayden says the goal was to give people the opportunity to have new experiences with each visit.
“We want it to be a social space where you can do everything under one roof. You could come one day and book a private event in one of our event spaces. You could come the next day and have dinner and on the third day you could go ax throwing, bowling football or curling with friends.
The curling arena is a rare opportunity to try the sport you saw on TV at the Olympics without having to join a club. You can either rent the space with a group of friends or take curling lessons with one of the instructors. Curling instruction is $45 per person for 90 minutes of practice with one of the trainers.
“It’s a great team sport and ideal for people who like strategy a lot,” said Todd Gault, curling coach at Hub Stadium Novi. “With a one and a half hour lesson, you’ll probably be able to throw like a member of a curling club. Once you overcome the initial balance issues and speed issues, there is plenty of muscle memory. You will master the basics. As you curl, you’ll get the strategic look.
There are two types of ax throwing. There is the one-handed type which offers several types of games to choose from. There are also larger ax stands that are longer and use larger axes that require two hands to throw.
The bar is open for lunch and dinner and offers Detroit-style appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, and pizza. The Concession Stand restaurant is open for dinner and offers steak, chicken, fish, lobster and more.
Hub Stadium Novi is open from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. On Fridays and Saturdays, it is open from 11:00 a.m. to midnight. Sunday hours are 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
