Magic: The Gathering will announce an updated release schedule for 2023 in the wizards present broadcast on August 18, 2022, including more details on Dominaria United and The Brothers’ War later in 2022! While not all of them apply directly to MTG Arena, here’s everything we know so far.

Main sets

Code name: lacrosse

The first main expansion to be released in 2023 continues the story arc of Dominaria United and The Brothers’ War.

Codename: Marathon

The final first set of the Dominaria story arc.

Code name: Marathon Epilogue

Concluding the huge four-set storyline that began with Dominaria United, according to Mark Rosewater, “Marathon Epilogue” is a brand new product tied to the “Marathon” set, and there is no other current product to which compare it.

Arriving in 2023, The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earthâ„¢ brings to life the incredible depth of the world created by JRR Tolkien with a full version of the Magic set designed for the booster draft. Gandalf, Gollum, Frodo, Aragorn – the characters you know will immerse you in Middle-earth as you fight for the One Ring, plot with Saruman or journey to the heights of Mount Doom.

Arriving on tabletop, Magic Online, and MTG Arena – plus four Commander decks and special Secret Lair drops – this set will be available wherever you play. Cards will be made legal in Modern, as well as Historical.
