Susan Renee Belvin, 60, left this world naturally at her home in Colington on May 14, 2022. She was predeceased by her husband Rick Belvin and daughter, Destiney Akers, both formerly of Colington.

Renee, as she was better known, was born and raised in Portsmouth, Virginia, although she has called Colington home since arriving in 2003. Family was Renee’s passion and over the years she has become a beloved “neighborhood mom” to local kids of all ages.

Renee is survived by her mother Brenda Mitchussion of Henderson, Nevada; one daughter, Amber Shannon of Hampton, Virginia; the father of her daughter Destiney, Dallas Griffith of the Colington residence; two brothers, John Gilbert of New Bern, NC and Steven Gilbert of Chesapeake, VA; one sister, Dawn Gilbert of Indianapolis, IN; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, as well as many other dear relatives and friends.

The family will be hosting a celebration of Renée’s life at their home on Thursday, May 19, 2022 from 6 to 9 p.m. Friends can also call 252-599-3815 to pay their respects. In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to honor Renée is asked to donate directly towards her cremation costs. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Visitors Bureau will hold a public meeting to review plans for an Outer Banks Events Center. The meeting will be held on Monday, June 6, 2022 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Keeper’s Galley building in Haven on the Banks, 115 Dove Street, Nags Head North Carolina 27959.

Still in the conceptual phase, the Events Center is intended to provide a suitable and flexible space for year-round events, concerts, sports, meetings, smaller trade shows, galas and many more. other uses.
